Questions & Answers

In what format do the pictures come? Prints, on a CD, on a flash drive?

Is on a DVD and if you want we can send to you by email-wetransfer too.

How long in advance do I have to book? I definitely want to book a photographer but I am still trying to coordinate a date with the resort.

Will be ready in one day and a half.

Do you have any recommendations for a beach engagement? I was hoping that the photographer could capture the actual engagement and then do a few pictures afterwards.

The best beach is Palafitos is beautiful.

A day and a half is enough. We can always coordinate the details of the shooting prior to booking the actual date and time.

The photographer will start shooting at the appointed time; it's up to you to let us know what time you want us to start the session. Engagement sessions are usually done showing off the ring, maybe using some props ("I Said Yes!", "Save the Date" and so on), and of course, are really romantic.

I envision an engagement session without the emphasis on the ring... More on us as a couple. I want something fun and light and not too staged. I want the photos to capture the moment and the experience.

Definitely. Our photographers always make the sessions have a very relaxed feel to them, and people generally feel very comfortable (even the awkward ones) with them. So just be yourself, talk to the photographer about what you want and focus on your partner!

How do the packages work?

A day after the photo session, the photos will be edited and ready for you to look at and pick out the ones you like the most; we can then work on that to find the package that suits your needs better.

What happens if I don't like any of the photos?

If by any reason you don't like any, you can schedule a new session so the photographer can retake the photos. This has never happened, though, so it's very unlikely it will.

They are delivered by email through wetransfer.com or on a CD, and we can put them on a flash drive should you provide it.

We only have 1 outfit each; I see you allow different outfit changes depending on the package. Will that work?

One outfit is just fine. Most people end up wearing one outfit anyway.

The session will just be a celebration of us 5 years out for my cancer-versary. "We made it" session!

It is definitely a very special occasion; even though we always talk to our photographers prior to meeting a customer to explain all their needs, I think you should mention that to your photographer at time of meeting so they know how you are feeling and what you want to reflect. Don’t be afraid to talk to them and tell them exactly what you are looking for.

I have never done a photo session before. What are your recommendations?

When I did my very first one, I didn’t like the way they came out when I saw the pictures. I was sweating in a lot of the photos (because it's usually very hot and humid here) and my eyes were closed in a lot of them. Communicate with the photographer if you need to stop and fix your hair (for example) or refresh. You might want to take a small facial or hand towel will you.

I am mostly looking for the shots to be around the water since we both love the beach. Not really interested in multiple locations.

That is perfect. Should you change your mind, even during the session, you can simply let your photographer know. We are very laid back and understanding.

Ideally, I would like to schedule this at sunset, but would like the professional opinion of the photographer.

The sunset is great because of the soft light and because it is not as hot as daytime; sunrise or sunset are the best options light wise.

What if the weather's not great?

If it's an overcast day, that's actually more than fine; lighting in photography is actually greatly improved if it's not incredibly sunny, since the direct sunlight often shows unflattering shadows. And on sunny days, our photographers always find the best places (under a palm tree, a gazebo, etcetera) or the most flattering angles.

What should we wear?

Ideally, outfits that you have tried on and feel comfortable in; avoid stripes or striking patterns, as well as neon colors. Preferably, wear outfits and colors that compliment the surroundings and the people you're having the session with; if you're doing a family photo session, for example, then it's a nice idea to have someone wear a dress or shirt with a pattern and have the rest use the colours from said pattern on their clothing.

We're aware that it is a lot to take in, so don't be overwhelmed by it all! This is simply so your experience goes a lot smoother and it shows through all the photos. We're so happy and honored that you decided to work with us, so don't be scared to let us know if you have any other questions or doubts.
